Industrial design is a profession aimed at establishing the relationship of objects produced by industrial methods with people*. The emergence and change of industrial design as a professional field takes place in parallel with the social and cultural developments in production, technology, art and sociology. When it first emerged, its basic context was to aesthetically design products that are a means to an end, but over time it has become a field that includes many factors such as ergonomics, user experience, material selection, functionality, environmental problems. Today, it is repositioned as the development and design of systems, services and experiences by going beyond the product**.
The industrial design process is a creative process that involves problem definition and developing ideas for solution. In this process, the designer performs actions such as design-oriented research, determining user needs, producing solution ideas by considering visual organisation elements and principles, expressing ideas in 2D and 3D by using material and production knowledge. In our Industrial Design Department within the Faculty of Fine Arts of Ondokuz Mayıs University, students are educated with an understanding that combines design, art and technology with a curriculum prepared in accordance with this professional practice and expert teaching staff. Our students who graduate from the department work in the private sector and public sector with the title of "industrial designer".
